Fiery Furnace Hike

What Are The Challenges?

Find OUT

The Fiery Furnace is a spectacular and possibly the best short hike in the world. It is 2 miles long, but it will feel more like 3-4 miles by the time you’re done. There are places along the route that are slightly technical to navigate, like narrow ledges and crevices to step over, but they are nothing that an average person without a fear of heights or range of motion issues, hiking on a good weather day, cannot tackle. The biggest challenge inside the Fiery Furnace is navigation and for that reason the park service requires you to get a permit. Navigation is challenging inside the Fiery Furnace because the area is a complete maze with no maps. At any given point there might be five side canyons for you to choose from and it isn’t ever obvious which one is the one to take. We hiked the Fiery Furnace many times last year and on one day out of the 7 groups we encountered 5 were completely lost and three were heading back without having seen the entire loop. You can hike the Fiery Furnace with a ranger, but if you want to explore uninhibited and see all the hidden arches without the fear of getting lost, our one of a kind, picture based guide is the only tool available that will help you do that.
