Fiery Furnace Permits & Guided Tour Tickets
Find out how best to secure the coveted self-guided Fiery Furnace permit or your ticket for the ranger-guided tour.Â
Secrets to Securing Self-Guided Permits and Ranger-led Tickets
Ticket for the Fiery Furnace, either self-guided (year round) or ranger-led (approximately April through October only – exact dates are unknown at this time; check Arches website directly for those updates), can be acquired 7 days in advance of your hike at 8am MT through recreation.gov website only.
Â
Starting in March the demand for self-guided permits and then in April for ranger-led tickets will be extremely high and they will sell within split second of being released at 8am so it’ll be really hard to get tickets. Please read below on how to improve your chances:
Â
The only thing that will help you increase your chances of securing a ticket/permit when they are in high demand is a fast computer and some quick split second action. If your computer/phone/tablet is sluggish other people with faster devices will connect to the recreation.gov server faster and snatch the tickets first. If you don’t have a fast device find a friend with a newer device or ask your IT person at work for help.
Â
Next, once you are on a fast computer, you want to be logged in to recreation.gov and ready before 8am mountain time. You want to be in your account and have the number of people selected ahead of time so that you are ready to click on the date alone as soon as the clock turns 8:00:00 (get a digital clock so you know the precise time) and not a split second later. Once you have clicked on the live date, quickly maneuver to click add to cart button below. Practice this ahead of your preferred date and you’ll have a better sense of the process when it’s time to reserve actual tickets and you’ll know how well you’re set up to succeed.
Â
If you don’t get tickets at 8am keep refreshing for the next 15 – 20 minutes. Tickets are held in a basket for 15 minutes and if someone successfully put more tickets in their basket than they needed those tickets will be released and might become available later. Other cancellations, though rare, might happen too, but it’ll be really hard to time those since they could happen at any time and you’d have to watch the website 24/7 in order to catch those.
Â
Obviously, if you have a few days in Moab try for all days to increase your chances and if you have a group have everyone try independently from their own accounts.
