Fiery Furnace Moab

Find out about some of the other considerations that the park service will ask you to adhere to on your visit to Fiery Furnace Moab. Answers to other questions are available on our Fiery Furnace FAQ page.

MORE TO KNOW

01.

Staying Off Arches

As you drive through Arches National Park you will see signs that climbing on arches is not allowed – it is actually illegal. Your weight could be enough to collapse an arch.

02.

Noise Pollution

Fiery Furnace Moab is known for its incredible silence and solitude, which you will only find there in the park. Limiting noise and shouting will assure a great experience for everyone.

03.

Group Etiquette

To minimize impact on the fragile environment walking in single file is advisable. This will make sure that your group stays on path and off any vegetation or its roots. Stepping on plant roots has the potential kill vegetation. To maintain the quality of everyone’s experience, members of each group should stay close together and give space to other groups and park ranger led tours.

04.

Vandalism

Leave everything the way you found it. Do not mark the path, scratch on walls, or build cairns. If you see vandalizm, report it to a park ranger.

05.

Trash

If you find someone else’s trash pick it up. Carry out all your trash and even the smallest food waste – banana and orange peels included – it is trash!

06.

And Last But Not Least.....Bathrooms!

Seems trivial to mention, but actually this is a big issue in the desert. The etiquette in the desert is different than in the forest – you don’t bury it, you take it out! There is a bathroom at the trailhead, use it! Solid human waste and toilet paper must be carried out. Be prepared with a portable toilet bag – standard equipment in the desert!
