We were nervous about a self-guided tour after reading reviews that said it took some people 6 hours to go the 2 miles. We had some time restraints, but really wanted to try this hike. This guide was indispensable in completing the hike, and made it so much more enjoyable. We are experienced hikers, but we couldn’t have done without it. It certainly would have been a lot more tense if we hadn’t had it. In fact, we’d probably have had to turn around for fear of getting lost. This is because, as others have noted, the markers on the trail are very hard to spot, and even if you do see them, it’s not always clear where to go. In addition, we would never have found the “surprises” along the way, which are well hidden along various side canyons, and not identified by the trail markers at all. The app makes it relatively easy to identify the rocks from the pictures, so that you can locate where you are, and find the proper canyon to head into. There were a couple of spots where we had a little bit of difficulty. In stage 6.5, it wasn’t quite clear where the guy in the pictures was exactly, but once we climbed up onto a rock and saw a trail marker on the other side we figured it out. In stage 7, the transition from 7.4 to 7.5 was not obvious, but again it didn’t take long to spot where the route was from the pictures. Also, we didn’t quite understand the numbering system, as 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 seem to be subsections of 4.4; and 5.1.1. is a subsection of 5.2. However, these are minor gripes. All in all, this is a FANTASTIC app. We both agreed that the Fiery Furnace hike was the best short hike we’ve ever done, and we would never have completed it had it not been for this guide. It made our vacation truly memorable! Thank-you!

This hike guide looks very descriptive and well written. We started the hike clockwise and did not look at the guide until the first place we were unsure of the way to go. We realized to use the guide we need to start the loop counterclockwise. We were not going to turn back so we just winged it. There were definitely some spots where it would have helped. The
Very small arrows the park puts on the rocks are easy to miss.

This guide made our Fiery Furnace tour more like a scavenger hunt for our family! Our children, 13, 10, 8, had so much fun finding the next arrow and we had the guide to help keep us on track. It’s not so detailed that it took the “maze” feeling away but enough to make you feel comfortable exploring on your own. Made me feel so much more comfortable knowing we had a “key”.
We entered around the same time as the Ranger led tour and finished just ahead of them – but was able to almost completely avoid the them. But this guide, hike on your own. Way more fun and you can stop when you want.

The pictures in this map were very helpful, especially as we were starting out. As we got further into the hike, the combination of the map and the arrows that are physical markers of the trail made this a very enjoyable hike for our family of 5. Highlight of our trip! This was a great guide for our family tour of the fiery furnace (since the ranger-led hike was full) ! The guide is really really well done to help navigate a complicated route visually. We discovered some amazing side hikes past dead end signs we would have missed. These were our favorite moments on the trip!
Initially I worried if the product was real, since the site was unclear about exactly the form of the guide. But, after quick responses on email it was clear this is genuine.
Support was also very responsive and helpful when I had not figured out a way to save persistently on my iPhone (use safari, save to files, download acrobat reader), but initially I had some trouble with this step. This was resolved before my hike thanks to fast email responses.
I am so glad we purchased this guide for our tour, since we had confidence to explore and discover what turned out to be our favorite spots. Prior to the actual hike it helped ease our worries of being lost to have a turn by turn instruction so the whole family would join on our adventure. We even helped a couple lost hikers find their way out!

Overall a fantastic guide. The pictures were of great help and the simple descriptions as well. Loved the simple layout. It gave us confidence to go off route where we may have not been confident otherwise. We loved that you didn’t give away what we would see. It was so fun to be surprised with the arch at 8.1. It was nice to not know it was there. It was a highlight of our walk.
We missed the double arches in stage 5.2, yet thought we explored every side slot in that area. Not sure what we did wrong. Part of it may be that I wasn’t really following the route exactly and may have either not looked up or didn’t get into the right slot because I thought I knew where I was going.
Stage 7.5 we had to look and look for the arch. You may want to describe that is definitely down in the canyon and add a little more description.
Fantastic guide and will definitely recommend to others.

We are headed to Arches in October. The ranger guided hikes are not available when we will be there. As we have been researching our trip, Fiery Furnace was a place we wanted to see. However, being a bit over the “young” category, we weren’t real sure about going guide-less. After purchasing and reading the DIY guide, we are now of the attitude that “we’ve got this!” This is a great, detailed resource and we can’t cant wait to see it all in person! Money well spent. Ranger tours were sold out for days in off peak season. We didn’t travel this far to not do this hike. So we purchased the required permit (note they also sell out especially on the weekends), purchased this guide and arrived at sunrise. Being in the “furnace” without dozens of other hikers was amazing. Found the guide to not only be helpful, but it gave us confidence that we wouldn’t make a foolish move. If you are hiking with two or more people then this guide more then pays for itself vs. the two hour ranger led tour. You get to spend as much time as you want, explore more, and not wait for 20 people to maneuver through the course. We spent three prime hours (note: we did not have to wait for anyone which would have taken longer). I only wish I had read through the tour the night before-I think it would have been helpful. I am glad the tours were sold out-we had a far superior experience!
